The Municipal Council of North Al Batinah Governorate held its fourth regular session of the second year of the third term of 2024 in the office of the Governor of Al Suwaiq, headed by His Excellency Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, Chairman of the Municipal Council in the governorate, and in the presence of council members.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Mohammed bin Suleiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah and Chairman of the Municipal Council of North Al Batinah Governorate, welcomed the members and the attendees, appreciating the great role played by Their Excellencies the governors of the governorate’s states, their excellencies members of the Shura Council, representatives of the states of North Al Batinah, members of the municipal council, government institutions in all sectors, and the masses of citizens and residents. And the companies, institutions, clubs, civil teams, and volunteers from the people of the governorate and from other governorates who provided the appreciated and appreciated effort before, during and after the exceptional weather conditions, offering His Excellency thanks, appreciation and gratitude for the national cohesion that led to the return of life to normal at an exceptional time in the governorate, calling on His Excellency to benefit. The Council then approved the minutes of the previous meeting and the recommendations it included regarding a number of topics.
During the meeting, specialists from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority were hosted to find out the causes of communications network outages during emergency situations, especially in exceptional weather conditions, and to review future plans to reduce the occurrence of these outages in similar cases. During the meeting, specialists from the North Al Batinah Municipality were also hosted to provide a visual presentation about The efficiency of managing municipal resources during exceptional climate events in terms of (equipment, human resources, etc.) and the municipality’s ability to provide more resources that will enable it to manage crises efficiently and professionally in the future.
The Council focused its discussions on the weather condition that the governorate was exposed to during the last period (low rain), the effects left by this weather condition, and identifying the most prominent efforts made to eliminate the effects that occurred due to the torrential torrential rains resulting from huge amounts of rain, the likes of which the Sultanate of Oman has never witnessed. For a long time, the Council has appreciated the efforts made by the governmental and civil sides to eliminate the effects of that situation quickly and with high efficiency and cooperative efforts among all segments of society that embodied that national cohesion in its finest and most beautiful forms so that Oman remains under the wise leadership of, His Majesty. Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said - may Allah protect him- is a global model for solidarity, interdependence and fruitful cooperation for the advancement of this generous nation.
The Council also discussed a set of proposals submitted by members of the Municipal Council to help those affected by natural disasters and climatic events in coordination with the relevant authorities. The Council reviewed the letter of the Director General of the General Directorate of Housing and Urban Planning in the governorate regarding allocating sites for a solar energy station and the production of green hydrogen in the Wilayat of Shinas, in addition to Discussing support for one of the sustainable projects for the Abdullah Bin Al Abbas School for Post-Basic Education in the Wilayat of Al-Suwaiq, and reviewing the responses received from some government agencies regarding a number of topics, including the project to establish a school in the Al-Khuwairat area in the Wilayat of Al-Khaboura and developing a site to establish a general council for the people of the Hillat Al-Rawashid, Al-Khasda, and Abu Al-Durus areas in the Wilayat. Saham and requested the allocation of a site for use as a cemetery in the Khabat Al Khamis area in the Wilayat of Suwaiq and requested the establishment of box ferries for vehicles to cross on the main Batinah Road for the areas of Hafeet, Maqasa and Deil Al Abdul Salam.
The members of the Council expressed their opinions, visions and perceptions on the topics raised for discussion, and through them, the Council made appropriate recommendations for those topics.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah and Chairman of the Municipal Council, thanked the attendees for their keenness to achieve the public interest of the nation and their interest in issues that concern the citizen, facilitate his means of life, and provide him with various services that move society forward, focusing on calling on members to do more. It is an effort to provide concepts and visions that enable the provision of all services necessary for the process of development and modernization in the various states of the governorate to provide a promising investment environment that is compatible with Oman Vision 2040.
